Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania band The Composure is taking the world by storm. Since the band’s formation in 2007, members Paul Menotiades (vocals/guitar), Seth Milly (guitar/vocals), Johnny Grushecky (bass), and Cory Muro (drums/vocals) have never stopped working. Day jobs are a thing of the past for this band and they dedicate every waking moment to what they love the most – making music. There is no doubt The Composure’s success is hard earned and its members have helped these men climb the totem pole in the dog-eat-dog world of the music industry.

The Composure is truly a mixed bag of Pennsylvania musicians. Milly has history with the band I Drive, Grushecky with Houserockers, and Menotiades and Muro with Punchline. In fact, Menotiades had been a guitarist and vocalist in Punchline before Muro joined in 2009 as their drummer. When Muro was crowned as an official member of Punchline, he and Menotiades had already formed The Composure. To think, a band that started as a “just a jam session” now has two successful releases, Strings Attached and Stay The Course.

When Muro was asked where he saw The Composure in five years, he replied, “I would hope to see us able to tour, stay on tour, and afford rent and food. You know that would be cool. I think if we were able to do that, we’re all going to be doing this for a long time.”

Even though each member enjoys other music projects on the side, Punchline’s Chris Fafalios and Steve Soboslai have created the label Modern Short Stories, which has become a sort of family. The label unites not only Punchline and The Composure, but other acts like Spontaneo, Barely Blind, and more. The Composure has had the chance to play with the likes of Bruce Springsteen and has recorded with Marc McClusky (Weezer, Bad Religion, Ludo) and Mark Trombino (Jimmy Eat World, Blink-182, All Time Low). Yet, even with such prestigious achievements under their belts, The Composure recognizes they have a long way to go and still dedicate their lives to their music.

From the lack of explanation of how the band arrived at the name The Composure, other than the fact that it sounded pretty cool, to their drive and determination to stick with something they love, this band plans to be around for years to come. They have proven themselves time and time again to fans ranging in age and musical tastes. When The Composure rolls through your town, make sure to take advantage of seeing this fan-friendly band before their popularity explodes.
